Description
What kind of wine is it
Alta Langa Cuvee Aurora Blanc de Noirs Pas Dosé is a sparkling wine by Banfi. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes, it is produced using the Traditional Method and contains no added sugar. In the glass, it appears a bright yellow, enlivened by a very fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet is delicately floral, opening up to aromas of toasted hazelnut and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it reveals a precise taste, with excellent structure and well-balanced acidity, finishing with a fresh and creamy aftertaste.
Where does it come from
This wine originates from the Alta Langa area in Piedmont. The vineyards, cultivated using the Guyot system, take root in marl-limestone soil with a clay component. This particular geology gives the wines a clear and distinctive character. The vines are managed to maintain a balanced yield, allowing the characteristics of the terroir to be fully expressed.
How is it produced
The base wine is vinified at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, the secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the principles of the Traditional Method, followed by ageing on the lees for sixty months, which imparts deep aromatic complexity. The pas dosé nature ensures a dry, pure profile with no added sugars. This technical precision gives the sparkling wine great balance, enhancing its structure and natural creaminess.
History and Curiosities
Born from the passion of the Banfi winery, founded in 1978, this prestigious label represents a sublime interpretation of the Piedmontese Metodo Classico. The project began in the early Nineties with a niche production in numbered bottles. This 2017 vintage Blanc de Noirs, a pure Pinot Noir with zero dosage, matures for 60 months on the lees, ensuring excellent structure. Awarded 90 points by James Suckling, this Pas Dosé sparkling wine fully enhances the profound vocation of the Alta Langa region.
