Description
What kind of wine it is
The Hautes Côtes de Nuits from Domaine Anne Gros is a still red wine produced in Burgundy from Pinot Noir grapes. In the glass, it displays a clear ruby red hue, introducing a clean aromatic profile that expresses distinct red fruit aromas. On the palate, it is fresh and smooth, characterised by a balanced texture and moderate acidity. The overall style of the sip favours smoothness and fruit precision, defining an impeccable style to accompany white meats and roast poultry.
Where it comes from
The vineyard is located in the commune of Concoeur, at a higher elevation than Vosne-Romanée, in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits area. This high-altitude plot, with an eastern exposure, hosts the vines in its flattest area. The soil is characterised by fossil-rich limestone, with frequent ammonites and shell imprints, a geological composition that ensures excellent drainage. This microclimate and the nature of the soil promote balanced grape ripening, offering freshness and aromatic clarity.
How it is produced
The grapes are harvested and vinified with the aim of preserving the natural definition of the fruit and maintaining a linear flavour profile. The core of the production process involves careful ageing in oak barrels, with the use of some new wood. This practice integrates the structure of the wine, imparting smoothness without overpowering the varietal freshness. Before serving this Burgundy red, it is recommended to decant for about an hour to enhance every nuance. It is ideal paired with veal and pork served with onion and fruit confit.
History and Curiosities
The Hautes-Côtes de Nuits 2024 from Domaine Anne Gros originates in Concoeur, on the heights of Vosne-Romanée. This refined Pinot Noir has its roots in an exceptional soil of fossiliferous limestone, rich in rare ammonites that ensure excellent drainage. The perfect combination of altitude and east-facing exposure encourages ideal ripening of the grapes, while skilful oak ageing, with a proportion of new wood, enhances its red fruit aromas. The result is a balanced sip, perfect for being enjoyed in its youth.
