Description
Type of wine
Alois Lageder's Pinot Noir is a dry and elegant red wine with the Alto Adige Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) designation. It is an authentic expression of rigorous biodynamic agriculture, vinified in steel and aged in oak and concrete. On the nose, it reveals a bouquet dominated by lively hints of red berries and cherry, enriched by subtle mineral nuances. On the palate, it is harmonious and medium-bodied, offering a fresh, smooth sip that is suitable for a vegan diet. The tasting concludes in a balanced manner, with a satisfying progression supported by fine tannins and a delicate spiciness.
Origin
The grapes come from selected vineyards located between 300 and 450 metres above sea level in Alto Adige, in the areas of Pochi, Appiano, Cortaccia and Mazzon. In these zones, the cool microclimate favours slow ripening, enhancing the aromatic elegance of the Pinot Noir. The vines are rooted in calcareous soils, composed of clay, sand and pebbles. This particular geological composition defines the wine's structure, giving it gustatory precision and a distinct mineral character.
How it is produced
After harvesting, the bunches undergo fermentation and maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation in steel to preserve the integrity of the fruit. Ageing continues for several months, divided between the use of large Slavonian oak barrels and concrete tanks. This process gives the wine a velvety texture, harmonising the fruity notes with elegant spicy and earthy hints in a finish of great persistence.
