Description
What kind of wine it is
The Gewürztraminer by Alois Lageder is a still white wine with an intensely aromatic profile, an authentic expression of the Alto Adige region. Produced from grapes grown according to organic and biodynamic principles and vinified in steel, this wine enhances the varietal characteristics of Gewürztraminer through clear aromas of ripe fruit and exotic spices. On the palate, it reveals a generous body, supported by a lively freshness and a pronounced minerality, which accompany the tasting towards a long and juicy finish.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from selected vineyards in Alto Adige, located between the areas of Magrè, Cortaccia, Termeno and the higher slopes of the Isarco Valley. The range of altitudes favours ideal temperature variations for the development of a marked aromatic intensity. The soils, characterised by a sandy and gravelly matrix, give the wine a vibrant savouriness. The meeting of these different microclimates creates a complex aromatic profile, capable of combining structure and elegance.
How it is produced
Following a carefully staggered harvest, the process involves a brief cold maceration to gently extract the aromatic components. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with a small portion of the must remaining in contact with the whole grapes to increase the volume and richness of the palate. The wine then matures for about four months on the fine lees, a fundamental step to consolidate the olfactory complexity and the final structure.
History and Curiosities
The result of the dedication of the Alois Lageder family since 1823, this white wine boasts organic and Demeter certifications. The excellence of the Gewürztraminer Alto Adige DOC is born from the combination of grapes from distinct areas: the climate of Termeno imparts structure, while the altitudes of the Isarco Valley lend elegance. A staggered harvest between September and October captures perfect harmony, a quality rewarded with 92 points by Weinzeche.
