Description

What kind of wine is it

This Traditional Method by Alexandre Filaine is a Brut Champagne with a fresh and energetic style, characterised by a balanced oxidative profile. The result of a carefully crafted blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, this Champagne reveals clear aromas of red fruits and citrus on the nose, enriched by delicate buttery notes, a subtle mineral vein and a gentle hint of wood. On the palate, it is pleasantly crisp, finishing with a saline and vibrant aftertaste.

Where does it come from

The grapes come from Damery, in the heart of the Champagne region, from a small vineyard of about 1.5 hectares that ensures a limited and excellent production. The soils, situated at 60 metres above sea level, are characterised by a base of white chalk covered by a thin layer of clay, a composition that gives the wine a pronounced mineral tension. The agronomic management is personally overseen by the producer, using the permanent cordon for Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, while the Chablis pruning method is adopted for Chardonnay.

How is it produced

Production involves a blend of wines from the latest harvest and reserve wines. The musts ferment in historic 1937 barrels, gaining depth and structure before the secondary fermentation in bottle according to the Traditional Method. Ageing on the lees lasts for three years, while the artisanal process includes manual riddling and disgorgement à la volée, with a dosage of 5 g/l. The wine is finally bottled without filtration, preserving its expressive integrity.

History and Curiosities

Born from the passion of Fabrice Gass in Damery, this exceptional artisanal Champagne is the pure expression of a small vineyard of just 1.5 hectares. The production, limited to only 5,000 bottles a year, comes to life through meticulous vinification in old Bollinger barrels from 1937. The elegant blend, complemented by reserve wines, matures for three years on the lees before the traditional manual à la volée disgorgement. This authentic unfiltered gem enhances the prestigious white chalk terroir, offering a vibrant and inimitable glass.
