Description

What kind of wine it is

Abate Nero Cuvée dell’Abate Riserva Brut is a sparkling wine of great structure that combines Chardonnay and Pinot Noir through the Traditional Method. Characterised by a bright straw yellow colour with golden highlights and an extremely fine perlage, it offers a rich and complex aromatic profile. Scents of linden and hawthorn flowers intertwine with notes of ripe fruit, honey and toasted tones reminiscent of freshly baked bread. On the palate, it is intense and complex, able to elegantly accompany structured dishes from both land and sea.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from the Trento production area, an authentic expression of the Trentino-Alto Adige region. The grapes come from the most suitable vineyards, selected to ensure depth and consistent stylistic continuity. The influence of the mountain climate gives the wine marked liveliness and a broad aromatic profile, supported by a long-lasting taste. The artisanal work of the Abate Nero winery enhances the richness of the soil, translating it into an elegant and refined sensory profile.

How it is produced

The production process begins with gentle pressing, followed by an initial fermentation in steel tanks. The subsequent refermentation in the bottle follows the strict steps of the Traditional Method. The wine rests on the lees for at least one hundred and twenty months: a very long ageing period that gives the bouquet extraordinary breadth. This maturation imparts a deep and persistent flavour to the blend, enriched by hints of bread crust, citrus nuances and delicate vanilla notes, all harmonised by the typical balance of the Brut dosage.

History and Curiosities

The Cuvée dell’Abate Riserva Brut 2015 is the most prestigious sparkling wine from the Abate Nero winery, a true symbol of over forty years of artisanal excellence. This extraordinary Trentodoc Metodo Classico reveals all its charm thanks to a slow maturation on the lees for over 120 months, a skilful wait that bestows the palate with exceptional evolutionary complexity. Awarded the highest accolades by Gambero Rosso, Bibenda and AIS, this majestic Riserva Brut is the perfect seal for grand occasions, thanks to its extremely fine perlage and elegant, enveloping aromas.

Abate Nero, whose name evokes the figure of the French abbot considered to be the ‘father’ of Champagne, was born in the early 1970s from the commitment of a few friends, including Luciano Lunelli, all linked to the agronomic and wine sector, determined to develop more and more singular, good, prestigious ‘bubbles’.

Patience is at home here, the wine rests on the lees for frothing much longer than usual. Don't be surprised, therefore, if you find dates on the label that date back a few decades. Every stage is manual, for direct control of every single bottle: only in this way does Abate Nero achieve its charm.
