Description

What kind of wine is it

This sparkling rosé Traditional Method wine, produced by 1701, expresses the vibrant purity of Pinot Noir. The meticulous craftsmanship and absence of sugar dosage define a taut and precise Brut Nature profile. The agricultural approach strictly follows the principles of biodynamics, ensuring a deep connection with the ecosystem and delivering an unspoilt fruit. In the glass, it appears a bright cherry-pink, animated by an extremely fine and persistent perlage that enhances its innate freshness.

Where does it come from

The roots of this Franciacorta lie in the hilly Lombardy landscape, within the municipality of Cazzago San Martino. The vines grow on a deep morainic soil, enriched with an abundant stony fraction and superficial silty-sandy deposits. This geological composition ensures natural water drainage, giving the wine a distinctive savoury tension. The simple Guyot vine training promotes optimal vegetative balance, allowing the Pinot Noir to ripen fully and express a clear territorial identity.

How is it produced

The process begins with a brief maceration on the skins, ideal for extracting the rosé colour and aromatic profile. The primary fermentation takes place in stainless steel thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts. Ageing for thirty months on the lees imparts structure and complexity, preceding the manual riddling operations. On the palate, it is fresh, savoury and characterised by a long persistence marked by citrusy returns. The bouquet releases notes of wild strawberry, raspberry and mandarin, intertwined with star anise, cinnamon and delicate pastry nuances.

History and Curiosities

Born in the heart of Franciacorta DOCG, this refined vintage wine expresses the true vocation of Pinot Nero. Produced from grapes grown according to Demeter biodynamic principles on the morainic soils of Cazzago San Martino, the wine ferments with indigenous yeasts and matures for thirty months on the lees. This dedication, combined with a Brut Nature identity free from sugar dosage, enhances the purity of the fruit and the value of manual remuage. An excellence awarded 92 points by Vinous, guaranteeing a fresh, savoury tasting experience with perfect balance on the palate.

Making quality wines, innovative and traditional at the same time, is the goal we have set ourselves since the beginning , in 2011, when we purchased the farm from the Conti Bettoni Cazzago family. The name of the winery, 1701 , is due to the first vintage of a wine produced from the "Brolo" : a suggestive domestic vineyard surrounded by walls from the 11th century. History repeats itself, because today from that same vineyard - in the splendid setting of Palazzo Bettoni - we obtain an extraordinary Blanc de Noirs.

We have decided to adhere to a healthy and environmentally friendly agriculture , which improves and enriches the soils in which it is applied. And above all, which gives a natural wine with a unique taste.
