Information about Muscadelle

Grape variety Muscadelle
Grape colour White grape
Variety Autochthonous
Vigour Good
Areas of cultivation The vine may originate in the Dordogne where it is still widespread today. In France we find it in the Gironde and the Dordogne where, together with the sauvignon blanc and sémillon vines, it is used to produce high-alcoholic white and liqueur wines such as Sauternes, Monbazillac or Loupiac. We find it in Languedoc-Roussillon too. Outside France is particularly widespread in Australia.
History Although the name and the aromas lead back to Moscato, there really are no kinship ties between these two vines.
