Climate and soil	The temperature decreases towards the mountainous part of the south: the average annual temperature varies from 6 to 10 °C. The size of the forests causes a lot of rainfall, most of which occurs in summer.
History	The name Württemberg derives from the Stuttgart-Rotenberg Wirtembeg (Stuttgart-Untertürkheim city district). This in turn probably comes from Luxembourg, where the dynasty must have originated, and was thus appropriately named after the Celtic Widerberg (Roman Wirodunum). According to legend, the name Wirtembeg originated from the verbal deformation of Wirt am Berg (Osteria del monte). The name Wirtembeg, such since the eleventh century, officially became Württemberg with the elevation of the duchy to the rank of kingdom, which took place thanks to Napoleon I on 1 January 1806.
