Passing among the olive trees and the lush foret de la montagne, the highest point with its 283 m of the so-called mountain of Reims, we arrive at Verzy.
In the town center there is the small but prestigious Fresnet-Juillet house, which is in 2008 and in 2009 obtained the Coup de Coeur of the prestigious Hachette guide accompanied by the following words:
"Coup de Coeur is given very sparingly by our tasters. Now, if rare, this house gets it for the second year in a row! ".
It all starts in the year 1950: Gerard Fresnet, just out of school to viticulture of Avize, he decided to draw up their own Champagne.
To store his bottles start digging her hand quarry with the help of a few friends and collaborators.
This, at first, after several vicissitudes, collapses and only in 1976 can become truly operational.
Most of the property is made up of small and scattered cru, where the whole family still gathers manually the grapes to perfect ripeness. The processes and aging in the cellar until the bottling are carried out with great care and respect for traditions.
Today this great effort is spearheaded by Vincent, son of Gerard, who leads the vineyards of about 7 hectares and produces their Champagne in the Verzy headquarters, town of Reims' mountain that boasts the prestigious grand cru classification.
