Description
What kind of wine it is
Sancerre L’Amiral is a refined still white wine produced in the Loire Valley. Made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, it displays a bright golden hue. The bouquet offers intense aromas of small berries and nutmeg, accompanied by pronounced notes of exotic fruit. On the palate, it is generous and full-bodied, distinguished by a very smooth texture that envelops the mouth with elegance and complexity. It is best served between 10 and 12°C, paired with fish dishes, fresh cheeses or soft cheeses.
Where it comes from
The vines for this label are rooted in Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre, an area of excellence in the heart of the renowned Sancerre region. The vineyards benefit from an altitude between 185 and 205 metres and a sunny southern exposure. The distinctive element of the terroir is the Portland chalk, a calcareous soil that gives the wine a defined structure and a natural predisposition for longevity. The essence of these hills is interpreted by Gitton Pere & Fils, a historic family-run estate active since 1945.
How it is produced
The production of this white wine begins with a rigorous manual harvest, essential for selecting only the best bunches. In the winery, vinification aims to extract the aromatic richness of the grapes, preserving the characteristic exotic and spicy notes. The process is designed to emphasise a full and enveloping palate, while maintaining the elegance typical of the region. Thanks to this care, the wine acquires the potential for long ageing, capable of evolving positively for up to a decade.
