Prunotto (Antinori)
The Bussia vineyard is located in the township of Monforte d’Alba near the border with the neighboring township of Barolo. The wine has been produced as a cru ever since the year 1961 and, in 1994, became the property of the Prunotto winery. Within the confines of the Bussia sub-zone, Prunotto has identified a 2.5 acre (one hectare) plot known by local growers as “Vigna Colonnello” (“the Colonnello vineyard”).The plot enjoys a west-southwestern exposure and the old vines (35-40 years of age) and the composition of the soil (which consists of 10% sand, 40% loam, and 50% clay) make this a significantly different vineyard compared to the others of Prunotto. These, in addition to a variety of exposures, have notably different soils (on average 25% sand, 25% clay, and 50% loam). Given these special characteristics, it was decided to ferment and age the Colonnello grapes on their own and, after thirty years, once again make a Barolo Riserva wine.
Ruby red color
Floral aromas of rose petals along with perfectly ripe red fruit (raspberries and pomegranates) and spicy and balsamic notes.
The flavors are intense with full, enveloping, and supple tannins and a long and persistent finish and aftertaste.
