Description
What kind of wine it is
The Pinot Bianco Vorberg Riserva from Cantina Terlano is a still white wine. Made exclusively from Pinot Bianco grapes, it stands out in the glass for its straw yellow colour enhanced by bright greenish reflections. The aromatic bouquet is intense and complex, with notes of ripe apple and pear blending with hints of chamomile, yeast, and delicate spicy nuances. On the palate, it reveals a full-bodied and creamy structure, balanced by pronounced savouriness and vibrant minerality. The tasting experience culminates in a long and persistent finish, a testament to its extraordinary ability to evolve over time.
Where it comes from
This Riserva originates from the steep slopes of the Alto Adige Terlano production area, in vineyards situated at an altitude between 500 and 900 metres. The south and south-west exposure ensures the vines receive ideal sunlight, essential for slow and even ripening of the grapes. The distinctive feature of this terroir lies in its porphyritic soils, characterised by a sandy and stony texture that guarantees perfect drainage. This specific geological matrix imparts a marked mineral identity to the wine, giving the glass that gustatory tension and deep saline vein which define its structure and longevity.
How it is produced
Production begins with meticulous manual harvesting, followed by gentle whole-bunch pressing and natural sedimentation clarification. The must ferments slowly at a controlled temperature in large oak barrels. Subsequently, malolactic fermentation helps to harmonise any sharp edges and broaden the structure of the sip. The process concludes with maturation on fine lees for twelve months in traditional barrels: a crucial step in giving the wine its innate softness and aromatic complexity, while maintaining an elegant and dry profile.
History and Curiosities
Born from the historic expertise of the Terlano Winery, the Pinot Bianco Vorberg Riserva embodies the excellence of Alto Adige. The 2023 vintage originates between 500 and 900 metres above sea level on sandy porphyry soils, which give the wine a vibrant mineral identity. After a meticulous manual harvest, the must undergoes a slow fermentation in large oak barrels. The skilful ageing on the lees for twelve months imparts a creamy, balanced sip of rare longevity, revealing all the elegance of this extraordinary terroir.
