Description
What kind of wine it is
Lugana Le Creete Ottella is a white wine with Denomination of Controlled Origin from Veneto, featuring an intense golden yellow colour, capable of blending juiciness with structural elegance. Made from the Turbiana grape variety, it offers an enveloping aromatic profile, characterised by exotic notes of pineapple and grapefruit intertwined with hints of pear, apricot and white flowers, with a subtle mineral nuance of chalk. On the palate, it is taut and vibrant, with a marked mineral freshness that brings balance to the sip. This Lugana stands out for its finesse, culminating in a long and persistent finish, thanks also to slow fermentation and maturation in steel and cement.
Where it comes from
The soul of this wine lies in San Benedetto di Lugana, on the southern shore of Lake Garda. The grapes come from the Le Creete estate, a vineyard situated on ancient glacial soils composed of clay and limestone sediments. The particular concentration of white clay in the soil gives the wine its typical savouriness and a well-defined taste structure. The constantly ventilated microclimate ensures the perfect health of the bunches, allowing for a wine with a clean and precise organoleptic profile.
How it is produced
The production process begins with careful manual harvesting, during which the bunches are selected and placed in small crates. This is followed by a gentle pressing of whole bunches for most of the harvest and natural settling of the must. Fermentation takes place slowly at a controlled temperature in steel tanks. To enrich its structure, ageing on fine lees continues for several months, during which the wine rests between steel and cement vats, a choice that gives the sip harmony and expressive continuity.
History and Curiosities
Born south of Lake Garda, Le Creete Lugana DOC embodies the vision of Ottella, a historic Veronese winery founded by the Montresor family in 1960. This elegant wine is made from Turbiana grapes grown on ancient glacial soils, rich in pure white clay. The rigorous manual harvest and meticulous ageing process give this prestigious label a uniquely mineral freshness, widely celebrated over time by renowned guides such as Veronelli and Gambero Rosso.
