History Probably Rossese was introduced by the Greeks already in the 7th century BC, but the news is completely uncertain. It is known for sure that the vine has been present since time immemorial in the area. Some believe that the introduction of the vine in Liguria had taken place by the ancient Greeks; Others argue that the Etruscans first began cultivating the vine in the western part of the region. Other news, however, they want it to be imported from the Doria in their possessions at Dolceacqua in 1270 in one of their sea trips.
