Productivity Poor with short pruning, good in pergola farms; In the High Valley, where the foot is still cultivated, considering the non-hazardousness of the phylloxera in this environment, "Prié" has found suitable cultivation conditions, which allow to obtain, moderating production, a product with particular qualitative characteristics.
Areas of cultivation This grape is cultivated in the Valdigne, on the slopes of Mount Bianco, even over 1000 m. a.s.l.
History The Prié blanc grape variety is a native of Valdosta, whose origins are still uncertain. It could come from the Savoy or Valais area, but in any case its presence in the land given for a very long time, and it is here that the vine has undergone the genetic mutations that have led to the assumption of the present characteristics. The first documented records date back to 1838.
Ampelographic features Leaf: medium, pentagonal, trilobated, slightly bulging surface, upper and lower glabrous, medium green color and opaque gloss, with regular and rounded teeth, petiole breast V. Bunch: medium or small, short and pyramidal, rather compact, medium-sized herbaceous peduncle. Acino: medium, of ovoid shape, with prominent and persistent navel, pruinose, thin, tender, yellow-green; Lime floss of neutral flavor.
Characteristics of the wine obtained from this grape variety The wine obtained from the pré blanc grape is of straw yellow color with greenish reflections. On the palate it is fresh, fruity, herbaceous.
