Marquis D'Angerville Pommard 1er Cru Combe Dessus 2020

The 'Pommard 1er Cru Combes' from Dessus has a hint of ripe blackberry, a spicy bouquet that is actually quite Volnay in style due to its precociousness. The palate is well balanced with ripe and juicy tannin, lots of black cherries and raspberry fruit, almost confit in style with a fine balance towards the spicy finish showing a touch of a powerful vein. It should drink well for several years.

Bouquet

A complex nose blending black cherry, liquorice, violet, cocoa powder and spices, together with a slight leathery nuance.

Flavour

Very ripe but not entirely, it conveys an impression of purity to its fruity flavours of black cherry and blackberry. Pleasant acidity draws the long, positively tart finish. This wine smells like a Volnay, but this is not surprising given that a Volnay producer from vineyards in Les Combes Dessus, on the border of Pommard with Volnay, produces it.
