Le Piane Boca 2018

Boca DOC has several types of grapes, the Re Nebbiolo (85%), which finds its excellence in this area, and the Vespolina (15%). The Vespolina is a very difficult grape to grow, being sensitive to wet weather and diseases, often with low yields, but it gives wines a great spiciness, a little fatty and flowery touch reminiscent of honey and supporting the Nebbiolo.

Bouquet

Rich bouquet of red fruits offering mineral touches typical of the soil from which it originates. Seductive blackberries and delicious currants give life to a perfect encounter that enhances a sweet and fleeting hint of liquorice on the finish.

Flavour

It evokes perfection, expressing an almost unattainable depth that evokes freshness and minerality.

Soil composition	The soils have a low pH and consist entirely of porphyry gravel (of volcanic origin), slightly red and full of minerals.
Cultivation system	Simple Guyot.
Yield per hectare	3,000-4,000 kg/hectare.
Vinification	Fermentation and maceration on the skins for 30 days in a 25-hl open wooden vat and in 20-hl open steel vats with daily punching-down. Indigenous yeasts.
Ageing	After pressing, spontaneous malolactic fermentation occurs in spring followed by ageing in large 20hl-28hl Slavonian oak casks for three to four years. The process ends with the bottle ageing for one year.
