It was founded in the small village of Grumo, whose origins are lost in the mists of time. Grumus, an ancient Latin name meaning ‘hill of earth and rock’, identifies the hill that rises at the confluence of the Noce stream and the Adige river. A varied historical background allowed founder Roberto Zeni to give free rein to his creativity, creating and promoting products from the Campo Rotaliano area since the 19th century. A small plot of land in the Pini cadastral area produced a unique Teroldego wine, with an intense ruby red colour that lifted the spirits of guests at his inn near the Adige river.

Wars passed, but the passion in the Zeni family remained. Thanks to Romano Zeni, the tradition was passed on to his sons Andrea and Roberto. 1974 marked the leap into a new generation of fresh, young and fruity wines, with innovative techniques that respected family traditions. In 2008, the company welcomed the fourth generation. Thanks to the work of six hands, the farm and distillery expanded its horizons and continued to innovate towards organic vineyard management and the creation of a special line of wines under the name Schwarzhof.
