Description

Still red Etna DOC, produced by Tenuta Benedetta in Sicily, 2016 vintage. Blend: 80% Nerello Mascalese, 20% Nerello Cappuccio. 0.75 l bottle. An Etna Rosso born from the passion of Daniele and Laura Noli, who wanted to create wines that respect the identity of this exceptional territory. The grapes are harvested by hand in October. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in truncated cone-shaped French oak vats. The wine ages for approximately 13 months in second-use 500-liter French oak tonneaux. Aged in bottle for at least 12 months. It opens with notes of ash, lava, and salty hints, then shifts towards sensations of ripe blackberries and blueberries, violets, licorice, and graphite, with balsamic hints in the background. Ruby red with purple hues. The sip is engaging and elegant, with a precise and calibrated tannin, a long persistence marked by pleasant returns of graphite, licorice and fruity sensations.

From this winery
Tenuta Benedetta is a small wine-growing and wine-producing business born from our love for Sicily and its unique products. Daniele Noli and his wife Laura are the owner of Tenuta Benedetta, witch takes its name from their daughter, who takes part herself in the project. Daniele is a chemist and has inherited his passion for wine from his father. He graduated in Viticulture and Enology and attends to the whole production of the Tenuta. Laura deals with administration. The property includes three vineyards: Vigna Laura, Vigna Benedetta and Vigna Mariagrazia.

Vigna Laura is located in Contrada Verzella in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia. It includes two vineyards of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio that date back to the beginning of the 1900. The grape wine are cultivated in the form of the typical “alberello”, small tree vine of Etna. The density is 9000 plants per hectare.

Vigna Benedetta is a vineyard of Sangiovese cultivated in the form of the typical small tree of Etna. The vineyard is located in Passopisciaro, Contrada Feudo di Mezzo, in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia. Its density is 10000 plants per hectare.

Vigna Mariagrazia is a vineyard of Carricante, cultivated in the form of the typical “alberello”, small tree vine of Etna. It is located in the municipality of Milo and its density is 10000 plants per hectare.
