Description

What kind of wine it is

Cortona Syrah Stefano Amerighi is a still organic red wine with Denomination of Controlled Origin, matured in concrete and oak, offering a clear expression of the grape variety in Tuscany. In the glass, it displays an impenetrable ruby colour with purple highlights, while the aromatic bouquet opens with notes of blackberry and cherry jam enriched by hints of coffee cream, fern, tomato concentrate, cardamom and juniper. On the palate, it delivers a warm and creamy sip, balanced by lively acidity and well-integrated tannins, leading to a persistent and harmonious finish.

Where it comes from

The grapes destined for this wine grow in the countryside of Cortona, Tuscany. The vineyard is managed by Stefano Amerighi following a strict biodynamic approach, aimed at preserving the balance and vitality of the land. This artisanal agricultural method is based on a deep respect for the environment.

How it is produced

The production process begins with the ancient technique of foot treading, chosen to achieve an extremely delicate and respectful extraction of the must. Vinification takes place without corrective interventions or filtration, to maintain the integrity of the raw material. The wine matures for about twenty months, divided between concrete vats and oak barrels, then refines for a further year in the bottle. After decanting for an hour, its smoothness pairs beautifully with meat dishes, game and mature cheeses, perfectly balancing the most spiced preparations.

History and Curiosities

Born in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, this wine comes to life from Stefano Amerighi's biodynamic vineyard in Cortona. The strictly artisanal approach is characterised by the absence of additives and filtration, and is enhanced by the ancient practice of foot treading, which preserves the pure identity of the Syrah. The prestigious Magnum format brings out the best potential of the 2023 vintage, offering a faithful and authentic expression of the raw material.

My farm was born from a wish that matured over the years, to be able to produce a grand Syrah through the farming traditions of the family, passion, knowledge in the world of wine and the practice of biodynamics.

In order to reach this objective, Stefano Amerighi has identified an area of Chiuso di Cortona, named Poggiobello di Farneta, in the middle of which, as though it were a cru, there are two well exposed hills to south, south-east, closed within an old pebbly street to the west, a grove to the south and a ridge to the east to close the panorama.
