Taste On the palate it presents itself in all its pleasantness, soft, with lively but silky tannins. Its freshness and liveliness of flavour are enhanced by a mineral and savoury aftertaste, which also enhances the hints of ripe fruit on the nose.
History After a few years of experimentation on the vines with the aim of achieving a high quality wine with the 2012 vintage, the Rosso di Montalcino was born. It joins the production of the other two estate wines: the Brunello Pian delle Vigne and the Riserva Vignaferrovia. The Pian delle Vigne estate is located 6 km south of Montalcino, above the Val d'Orcia and takes its name from a characteristic 19th century railway station located on the estate. The estate consists of about 184 hectares of which about 65 are planted in vineyards.

The Pian delle Vigne estate, located 6 kilometers to the South of the town of Montalcino above the Orcia river valley, has belonged to the Antinori family since 1995. It takes its name from a typical railroad station of the 19th century situated within the estate’s confines and still in use.

The total surface area of the Pian delle Vigne estate is 184 hectares (470 acres), 65 of which (over 160 acres) are planted to vines; there are 2 hectares (5 acres) of olive groves and 117 hectares of woods.

Wine making The soil characteristics of these vineyards result in ripe and at the same time fresh and savoury sensations. The softly pressed grapes are handled in tanks during vinification at temperatures around 25°C in order to preserve the aromatic part, with maceration times of 8 0 days.
