Description

What kind of wine it is

La Rasina's Rosso di Montalcino is a still red wine that clearly expresses the character of Sangiovese grown in the Tuscan region. This label stands out for its fragrant aromatic profile and lively entry on the palate, managing to combine agility and structure. The sip reveals a well-defined dark fruit, supported by a noticeable yet well-integrated tannic texture, which gives the wine a pleasant smoothness. Ideal for accompanying convivial evenings, it is best enjoyed served at a temperature between sixteen and eighteen degrees. A faithful expression of the terroir, perfect for immediate consumption or for a slow evolution in the cellar, as it can rest for five to ten years.

Where it comes from

This Rosso di Montalcino originates in the heart of Tuscany, from vineyards managed according to the strict principles of organic and sustainable agriculture. The La Rasina estate works carefully to enhance the natural vocation of the Montalcino area, guided by the expertise of oenologist Marco Mantengoli. The fourteen hectares of property are entirely dedicated to the care of Sangiovese, with the aim of preserving its authentic identity. The consistent quality of production is evidenced by numerous awards from wine critics, including ratings from James Suckling, Bibenda and Veronelli, which reward the territorial adherence and expressive freshness of the glass.

How it is produced

The production process begins with vinification that pays close attention to the aromatic purity of the Sangiovese grapes. Subsequently, the wine matures through ageing in barrels for four or five months, a technical step that enriches the body and supports the tannic definition, ensuring greater intensity without overpowering its natural fragrance. In appearance, the glass shows a brilliant ruby red colour, anticipating a pleasant and open bouquet. The tasting reveals a marked savoury component, harmonised by intense notes that lead to a balanced and easy-drinking finish.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1988, La Rasina masterfully interprets the Tuscan region, offering an organic Sangiovese of vibrant elegance. Under the guidance of Marco Mantengoli, the estate enhances the natural freshness and notes of dark fruits of the grape variety thanks to a carefully balanced ageing of 4-5 months in barrique. The result is a brilliant and intense wine, with a savoury sip and lively tannic structure, awarded 93 points by James Suckling. Ideal for enriching your special moments, this Rosso di Montalcino DOC can evolve beautifully in the cellar for five to ten years.

The farm La Rasine borns in the 70’s by Santi Mantengoli, but just in the second half of the 80’s, through the successor Vasco, the work was directed towards the winemaking activities. Since 1988 the company focused more on this area which in Montalcino was evolving rapidly ; many investments both in the vineyards and in the cellar , have led the company to the current situation. Since 1997 the company is led by Marco Mantengoli , young wine technician, which placed its new ideas and modern technology and decades of experience handed down by his father.

La Rasina stretches over 45 hectares, 11 of which for vines, 4 hectares of olive trees and the rest for arable land. It stretches on the north east of the Montalcino hill at a height of 350 meters above sea level. In front of it opens the Park of Val d ‘Orcia, famous to be UNESCO World Heritage.
