The Guado al Tasso estate is located on the Tuscan coast about a 100 kilometres South-West of Florence. The surface area of the estate is over 1,000 hectares, 300 of which are planted with vines. The estate was part of feudal lands belonging to the Della Gherardesca family whose roots go back more than 1,200 years.
Bolgheri, a prestigious, small DOC in which Guado al Tasso is located, has been famous for rosé wines since the 1970s: for these, as well as for white wines, it received Denominazione di Origine Controllata status in 1984, later extended to reds in 1994. However, the area is now known and respected mainly for its exceptional reds, the so-called 'Super Tuscans'. Read more

| Wine making | Each and every vineyard plot was harvested separately on the basis of the ripeness level of the grapes, thereby creating a vast range of individual lots of Vermentino with different aromas and flavors. The grapes, as soon as they arrived in the cellars, were delicately destemmed and given a soft pressing. The must then went into temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation tanks where it fermented at a temperature of 16°C. |
