Description

What kind of wine it is

Francois Mikulski Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots embodies the elegance that distinguishes Chardonnay in Burgundy. This Meursault Premier Cru offers a dynamic style, marked by a citrus tension and pronounced savouriness. On the nose, it combines notes of fresh butter and marine hints, opening up to a silky palate rich in ripe fruit. Its precision makes it ideal for pairing with lean fish, shellfish, and spicy dishes.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from old vines located in Les Poruzots, on the upper slopes of the Meursault hillside. On the east-facing side, the soil features a thin silty layer over fractured limestone rock. This particular structure encourages drainage and drives the roots deep into the subsoil. The profound connection with the land gives the sip a vibrant minerality and a distinct saline sensation.

How it is produced

The winemaking process aims to preserve the essence of the original terroir. Ageing takes place in oak barrels, using a minimal proportion of new wood and containers previously used for earlier vintages. This approach ensures a measured integration that imparts softness and juiciness without ever overpowering the fruit. The profile remains pure and defined, leading to a long spicy persistence with elegant touches of ginger and saffron.

History and Curiosities

The prestigious Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots 2022 by Francois Mikulski originates from old 50-year-old vines cultivated using uncertified organic methods on the renowned Burgundian hillside. With roots delving into fractured rock, the vines draw out a vibrant limestone minerality and captivating marine nuances. To enhance the authentic expression of this terroir, the carefully managed oak ageing involves only a minimal percentage of new wood, thus offering the palate an elegant, dynamic sip with exceptional persistence.
