Description

Still organic red wine from Tuscany, 100% Pinot Noir, produced by Fontodi in Panzano in Chianti. 0.75L bottle, 2021 vintage. A Pinot Noir born from the passion for quality and respect for the terroir of the Manetti family, owners since 1968. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and maceration in Allier truncated cone-shaped vats for 2 weeks with manual punching down. Aged in Troncais barriques for 12 months. The nose unfolds with fresh notes of plum and red currant, aromatic herbs, rose, oriental spices, and minty tobacco. Bright ruby red. The palate is substantial, fleshy and fresh at the same time, punctuated by well-combed tannins and a savory savoriness.

Fontodi has belonged to the Manetti family since 1968, which for centuries has been dedicated to another typically Chianti activity: the production of the famous terracotta. Precisely in the name of this strong bond with the land and with a great passion for quality, the company has successfully turned towards increasingly careful cultivation of the vineyards and a deeper knowledge of the potential of Sangiovese in the Panzano area.

Fontodi is a certified organic farm and covers 170 hectares, of which more than 80 are planted with vines. The principles of naturalness and sustainability inspire the agriculture that is practised: not only are no synthetic chemical products used, but an attempt is made to make the most of the company's internal resources by reducing external inputs. For example, the vineyards are fertilised using compost produced by combining pruning residues and manure from the farm's own Chianina breeding. Respecting the environment produces better, cleaner wines with a better expression of the terroir.
