Description
What type of wine it is
The Prete Brigante red wine from the D'Addario winery is a pure expression of the Primitivo grape variety, grown in Puglia. Belonging to the regional Typical Geographical Indication (IGT), it presents itself as a full-bodied and generous wine, characterised by an intense aromatic profile where notes of wild berries, dried figs and spicy nuances stand out. The structure is opulent and enveloping, supported by velvety tannins that harmoniously balance the natural smoothness of the sip. The rigorous oenological techniques adopted, including maturation in French oak barrels, define the elegant, complex and deeply territory-rooted character of this still red wine.
Where it comes from
The grapes ripen in the heart of Salento, specifically in the vineyards located between the municipalities of Sava and Turi, covering the viticultural areas that stretch between the provinces of Taranto and Brindisi. The vines grow on highly suitable soils, characterised by a rich presence of iron oxides resting on a solid matrix of limestone rock that sometimes surfaces. This specific soil composition gives the wine a peculiar mineral imprint and promotes an optimal concentration of sugars in the clusters during ripening. The geological nature provides an unmistakable identity, making the geographical area a true historical viticultural reference point of Southern Italy.
How it is produced
The production process begins with careful processing of the grapes, followed by a vinification that involves a vigorous extraction of the fruit to give the must its typical ruby colour and the necessary structure. Subsequently, the wine matures in medium-toast barrels for a few months, an essential step to integrate the scents of vanilla and liquorice and round off the taste profile. At the end of the refinement, the wine develops elegant notes of coffee and cocoa, making it ideal to accompany braised meats, matured cheeses served with honey or even to enhance dark chocolate at the end of a meal.
