Description

A perfect collaboration work of Ezio Cocito & Giorgio Rivetti, of La Spinetta. Ezio Cocito has bought a single vineyard in Baluchin in 2000. Given he has no experience in winemaking, he asked his long time friend, Giorgio to manage the vineyard and lend his expertise in winemaking. Winemaking process takes place in the winery & cellar of La Spinetta, consulted by Giorgio Rivetti, who is well-known for making award-winning Barbaresco.

Ours is the story of a father and a daughter's dream and passion to produce great wines and of a great friendship supporting us in achieving that goal. Ezio felt the urgency to reconnect to his family history: the Cocito family had to stop producing wine due to the Second World War but Ezio remembers clearly the summers spent at the great grandpa winery, built in the 1800s. One of Ezio’s dearest memories is when his father, Ercole, organized the re-enactment of the traditional way of producing wine by pressing it barefoot. Ezio was about 5 years old but he still remembers the joy of that moment as if it was yesterday.

Ezio Cocito: "I have two passions in my life: horses and Barbaresco. It’s through these passions that Giorgio and I have become great friends. Before 1993, our family had always planted Moscato in our vineyard in Neive, but after lots of consideration and long talks with Giorgio, we decided to take out the Moscato and try our hand with Nebbiolo. That was in 1994 and in 2000 our first Barbaresco Baluchin was born. I’ve always believed that if you can’t do something right, you shouldn’t do it at all. I wasn’t sure if I could produce the quality of grapes and wine that were to my standard, so I decided to focus all of my efforts on Barbaresco. This is also why we produce our wine only in exceptional vintages."
