In the past, Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle was marketed by individual vignerons, with modest productions that did not guarantee a constant presence on the market nor a proper dissemination of the overall wine image. The rightful sense of pride in one's own traditions and the age-old habit of teamwork in Alpine villages, combined with the far-sighted action of Don Bougeat, parish priest of Morgex until 1971, gave rise to the creation of the "Association des Viticulteurs". In 1983, the Cave du Vin Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle, now the Cave Mont Blanc de Morgex et La Salle, was founded on the ashes of this association, as the first result of the Regional Administration's policy of support and development of Valdostan wine-growing. The Cave has since taken possession of the new, technologically advanced premises in Morgex.
In its first decade of winemaking activity, the Cave has almost doubled the number of its members, currently around 80, and increased its production, now at 140,000 bottles per year: further confirmation of the success of a journey undertaken by reviving abandoned vineyards on the slopes of Mont Blanc, in the desire not to let the centuries-old tradition of the area die. Our indigenous vine grows between 900 and 1,200 metres above sea level, and the terracing on the mountain slopes allows these extraordinary vineyards to survive heroically. Total respect for the land and its morphology educates us and encourages us to pursue our philosophy by seeking out the quality, wonder and nature of this land. Read more
