Description
Still red wine from Etna, 14% ABV, produced by Carranco. Blend: 95% Nerello Mascalese, 5% Nerello Cappuccio, 2019 vintage. A wine born from passion and experience, a blend of history and tradition. The vineyards are located on the northern slope of Etna, in Contrada Carranco, where the bush-trained vines grow on terraces. After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and pressed, fermenting in temperature-controlled concrete tanks. Aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. On the nose, aromas of ripe red fruit, such as black cherries and strawberries, with clear spicy notes. Ruby red color with garnet highlights. On the palate, persistent acidity and vibrant tannins enhance its structure.

Carranco was born from the meeting of Borgogno and Tornatore, a blend of history, experience, and authentic Ethnean roots.
The vineyards are located on the volcano's northern flank, and only traditional methods of vinification are used. It only grows native vines, primarily Nerello Mescalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Carricante, which are the purest expressions of Etna, and it is from the volcanic soils that they draw the power, strength, and explosiveness of each eruption. | Story | We are located in a special area of our estate, in "Contrada Carranco", where we have selected a vineyard for individual production. Here we have in fact identified the most suitable area of the contrada, in the northernmost plot, amidst the basalt rocks. The peculiarity is that there is an old vineyard here that is unique: they are bush-trained vines planted on small terraces. |

| Wine making | After harvesting, our nerello mascalese and nerello cappuccio grapes are destemmed and crushed. This is followed by fermentation in cement vats at a controlled temperature of 24 - 26 °C. |
| Aging | Once fermentation is complete, the wine rests on the submerged cap skins for a further 25 days. Thanks to this step, even more anthocyanins and tannins can be extracted, but these are perfectly integrated into the structure of the wine, making it harmonious. The wines are then aged in large French oak barrels for 12 months before bottling. |
