Description
What kind of wine it is
The Pinot Nero Anrar Riserva from Andriano elegantly expresses the varietal characteristics of Pinot Noir. The bouquet reveals intense aromas of wild berries and cherry, enriched by spicy notes, hints of tea leaves and smoky nuances. On the palate, it stands out for its compact body and vibrant acidity, perfectly balanced by soft, finely-grained tannins. Thanks to this structural harmony, it is ideal for accompanying flavourful dishes based on game, lamb, red meats and selections of mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes grow in Andriano, in the picturesque landscape of Alto Adige. The vineyards are situated on reddish, clay-rich soils of calcareous origin, characterised by inclusions of white dolomitic stone. This particular geological composition gives the wine refined elegance and an extremely silky tannic texture. Low yields per hectare ensure extraordinary aromatic concentration. The mountainous environment and the mineral nature of the soil provide a clean profile, supported by precise fruit and a pleasant freshness.
How it is produced
Production involves vinification in steel with gentle pumping over, aimed at extracting the ruby colour and primary aromatic components. This is followed by malolactic fermentation, which softens the acidity and adds complexity. The subsequent and slow maturation in barrels refines the wine's structure, making it rounded and deep. This ageing process results in a complex fruity structure and a harmonious sip, which develops consistently through to a persistent finish.
History and Curiosities
The excellence of Pinot Nero Riserva Anrar 2022 originates in Andriano, guided by the philosophy of “Tradition in Motion”, which skilfully combines historical heritage with a drive towards the future. The grapes ripen on clay and limestone soils enriched with white dolomitic stone, giving the wine its unmistakable character. After careful vinification in steel, the wine matures in barriques, perfecting its complex fruity structure and silky tannins. Awarded 94 points by James Suckling, this Alto Adige DOC embodies an authentic and elegant oenological expression.

Today the strengths of the two wine estates are combined and yet clearly distinct from each other. With its outstanding sites, Cantina Andriano stands for constancy, underpinned by the historic achievement of the Andriano winegrowers for wines like Lagrein, which was one of the first to be aged in barriques here.
On the basis of a consistent commitment to quality and a strong focus on terroir, which had already been a successful recipe in Terlano, Cantina Andriano continues to develop step by step. The winery now looks to the future from a position of strength and can be proud of its identity and standard of quality. They have their roots in unique limestone-rich soils, a climate that is quite different from that of Terlano, and grape varieties ideally suited to these parameters.
That forms the foundation for the distinctive Andriano taste and identity. Read more
