Description
What kind of wine is it
Chardonnay Doran Riserva from Cantina Andrian is a still white wine from Alto Adige. Characterised by a solid technical profile and full body, this wine boasts balanced acidity and marked persistence. The vinification and extended maturation contribute to a harmonious structure, enhancing a clear and multifaceted bouquet. On the nose, it opens with aromas of citrus, white pepper, exotic fruit and a subtle smoky note.
Where does it come from
Production takes place in the Andriano area, within the Alto Adige denomination. The vines grow on reddish and clayey soils originating from limestone rock, with layers of white dolomitic stone. This specific geological composition defines the wine’s flavour profile. Thanks to low yields, the aromas are concentrated, allowing Chardonnay to purely express the pedological characteristics of its place of origin.
How is it produced
This white ferments in barrels, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and rests on the lees for twelve months. The creation of the blend precedes a further three months of ageing in stainless steel, a fundamental step to stabilise the flavour balance. Supported by a total acidity of 5.9 grams per litre and a low residual sugar, the sip maintains a lively and consistent drive, revealing itself as harmonious right through to the pleasantly persistent finish.
History and Curiosities
Born in Andriano, the Chardonnay Doran Riserva 2023 embodies the winery’s tradition in motion, combining historical roots with a forward-looking vision. The result of vineyards cultivated on clay and dolomitic soils, it expresses all the authenticity of Alto Adige DOC. Thanks to careful maturation in tonneaux for twelve months on the lees, it offers a harmonious sip and a complex bouquet, enriched with hints of exotic fruit and delicate smoky notes, magnificently preserving the winegrowing identity of the region in every glass.

Today the strengths of the two wine estates are combined and yet clearly distinct from each other. With its outstanding sites, Cantina Andriano stands for constancy, underpinned by the historic achievement of the Andriano winegrowers for wines like Lagrein, which was one of the first to be aged in barriques here.
On the basis of a consistent commitment to quality and a strong focus on terroir, which had already been a successful recipe in Terlano, Cantina Andriano continues to develop step by step. The winery now looks to the future from a position of strength and can be proud of its identity and standard of quality. They have their roots in unique limestone-rich soils, a climate that is quite different from that of Terlano, and grape varieties ideally suited to these parameters.
That forms the foundation for the distinctive Andriano taste and identity. Read more
