Description

The Brolettino Lugana is produced by the Cà dei Frati winery, a long-standing Lugana di Sirmione winery since 1782, which has always vinified each vineyard separately to ensure a clear image of its terroir and maintain its wines' integrity and longevity. Cà dei Frati pays close attention to the health of each vine, in fact the vegetative cycle is a priority; from the so-called "weeping of the vine" in March, when small drops of sap resembling tears form, to the rest phase that begins with the fall of the leaves in November. These attentions culminate in the achievement of the final goal: to create a wine that is the portrait of the Garda region. Brolettino di Lugana is an impeccable expression of the territory and the company's values: with great aging potential, even for over 10 years. It is distinguished by its excellent structure and smoothness. Brolettino, certified Lugana DOC, can be produced according to regulations only in Sirmione and in very few other locations in the Garda area. It is one of the most successful products of the great native grape variety, Turbiana, which stands out from the Trebbiano family for its peculiar structural and aromatic characteristics thanks to the climatic conditions in which it is grown in the southern hinterland of Lake Garda; today this grape variety is also called Trebbiano del Soave. Brolettino di Lugana is born in a calcareous and clayey soil and is initially vinified in steel to maintain its freshness and subsequently in barrique, with a 10-month refinement, to soften it and ensure its structure and longevity.

The company Ca' dei Frati has been known since 1782 as evidenced by a document that refers to 'a house with a cellar located in Lugana in the tener of Sirmione called the place of the Friars'.

It was in 1939 when Felice Dal Cero, son of Domenico, already a winemaker in Montecchia Crosara in Verona, moved in that house, Lugana of Sirmione, sensing immediately the wine-growing area.
After 30 years of work in the vineyard and winery in 1969, his son Peter participated in the creation of Doc started to bottle its first Lugana Casa dei Frati label.

Today, with his wife Santa Rosa cultural heritage has been passed on to children Igino, Gian Franco and Anna Maria who run the company with the same passion and determination.

Mutual respect, the union of the family, defined roles and the link to their territory on the shores of Lake Garda, represent the true strength of the Dal Cero family

Ca'dei Frati treasures of the past and looks to the future through a research and development of what was built in 70 years of wines.
