Description

What type of wine it is

Bortolomiol’s Prior is a Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Brut sparkling wine from Veneto, produced using the Charmat Method, which enhances the characteristics of the Glera grape through a dry and refined style. Its effervescence is distinguished by a fine and persistent perlage, capable of enhancing an aromatic profile focused on notes of green apple, pear, citrus, and delicate white flowers. On the palate, it is lively, offering a pleasantly savoury freshness that integrates harmoniously with a velvety texture. This balanced structure concludes with a clean and inviting finish, perfect for accompanying aperitifs and raw seafood.

Origin

This sparkling wine originates in Veneto, on the Valdobbiadene Hills, a viticultural area famous for its natural winemaking vocation. The Bortolomiol winery enhances the peculiarities of these hills, faithfully reflecting the identity of the Treviso territory.

How it is produced

The production process begins with a careful grape harvest. The bunches undergo white winemaking with soft pressing, followed by primary fermentation at a controlled temperature to preserve the integrity of the must. The sparkling process takes place in an autoclave according to the principles of the Charmat Method, a phase in which the wine referments, acquiring its characteristic effervescence. Subsequently, a brief ageing period outlines a sparkling wine with a bright straw-yellow colour, characterised by a rigorous profile that is also suitable for a vegan diet.

History and curiosities

Born from the vision of Giuliano Bortolomiol, Prior is the first Prosecco Superiore Brut, created in an era dominated by the Extra Dry style. This sparkling wine highlights the purity of the Glera grape, celebrated by its name and the Roman numeral on the capsule. Today, his daughters lead the historic winery, carrying forward a legacy that has received numerous awards from international critics. The company combines local tradition with a strong ecological commitment, envisioning a future aimed at oenological perfection.

"Giuliano left us a great gift, the desire to look forwards always and imagine the future, among the traditions of our hills and with the constant desire to get better" (Bortolomiol Family)

This is the legacy left by Giuliano to his wife Ottavia and their daughters Maria Elena, Elvira, Luisa and Giuliana, who with a "natural" instinct have not only maintained what their father built up but have also taken on new challenges to ensure the revolution does not come to an end.

Bortolomiol is a strong and tight-knit family made up entirely of women: the mother, the soul and linchpin of this company, and the sisters, the beating heart, who guide and support the family business in the continual challenges to achieve quality, efficiency and effectiveness with an outlook that is always competitive.
