Description

What kind of wine it is

Prior Bortolomiol represents the authentic expression of Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore, interpreted through a dry and refined brut style. Produced with Glera grapes, this sparkling wine is created using the Martinotti-Charmat method, which preserves its aromatic integrity, also making it suitable for a vegan choice. In the glass, it is distinguished by a fine and persistent perlage, which enhances notes of green apple, pear, citrus, and fresh white flowers. On the palate, it offers a lively and dynamic sip, supported by a pleasant savouriness and a clean finish, ideal for aperitifs and raw seafood.

Where it comes from

This label originates in the heart of Veneto, on the famous hills of Valdobbiadene, an area with a historical winemaking vocation. The Bortolomiol winery, a pioneer of the brut style in this territory, enhances the slopes of these lands to restore the pure identity of the area. The hilly origin gives the grapes a distinct acidity and an elegant mineral character, transferring an unmistakable territorial imprint into the glass. The peculiar terroir allows the vine to develop clear aromas and a balanced structure, reflecting a deep respect for the Treviso landscape.

How it is produced

Production begins with a careful harvest of bunches grown according to the modified cappuccina system. In the cellar, white vinification is carried out with soft pressing, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature to protect the primary aromas. The second fermentation takes place in autoclaves, developing a brilliant and snappy bubble. The cycle concludes with a short refinement that consolidates its organoleptic profile, resulting in a sparkling wine with a bright straw-yellow colour and a distinctly dry character.

History and curiosities

Born from the vision of Giuliano Bortolomiol, Prior was the first Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG produced in the Brut style, marking a true revolution in an era dominated by the Extra Dry version. Today, the historic winery is led by the founder’s daughters, who combine respect for the UNESCO hills with a deep ecological commitment. This pioneering cuvée highlights the absolute purity of the Glera grape, winning over international critics with prestigious awards, including the coveted Tre Bicchieri Gambero Rosso and an excellent 92 points from Falstaff.

"Giuliano left us a great gift, the desire to look forwards always and imagine the future, among the traditions of our hills and with the constant desire to get better" (Bortolomiol Family)

This is the legacy left by Giuliano to his wife Ottavia and their daughters Maria Elena, Elvira, Luisa and Giuliana, who with a "natural" instinct have not only maintained what their father built up but have also taken on new challenges to ensure the revolution does not come to an end.

Bortolomiol is a strong and tight-knit family made up entirely of women: the mother, the soul and linchpin of this company, and the sisters, the beating heart, who guide and support the family business in the continual challenges to achieve quality, efficiency and effectiveness with an outlook that is always competitive.
