Description

What type of wine it is

Roero Prachiosso by Angelo Negro is a red wine that clearly expresses the character of Nebbiolo grapes. In the glass, it reveals a deep ruby red colour, a prelude to an olfactory profile where hints of rose, strawberry and spices stand out. On the palate, it is warm, guided by very delicate tannins that bring harmony to the structure. The persistent finish offers hints of forest floor and pleasant notes of vanilla. It pairs perfectly with red meats and game, boasting an ageing potential capable of exceeding ten years.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from the Prachiosso geographical mention, located in the municipality of Monteu Roero. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 320 metres and enjoy an ideal southern exposure to encourage the perfect ripening of the clusters. The vine roots develop in calcareous-sandy soils, crucial elements for infusing the aromatic profile with a distinct floral elegance. This unique microclimate defines a precise territorial identity and sustains a measured taste balance, which faithfully reflects the spirit of Roero.

How it is produced

The vines are Guyot-trained and brought to maturity until the manual harvest in October, carried out with care to protect the integrity of the clusters. In the cellar, a floating cap maceration of eighteen days is carried out, a technique designed to gradually extract the colour and polyphenolic texture. The process concludes with a 20-month maturation, divided between a slow rest in oak barrels and final refinement. This careful management of timing harmonises the fruity fragrances with the elegant spicy notes imparted by the wood.

History and curiosities

Originating from the famous Prachiosso cru in Monteu Roero, this prestigious Nebbiolo by Angelo Negro embodies the authentic elegance of the Piedmontese region. The vines are rooted in calcareous-sandy soils, benefiting from a southerly exposure at an altitude of 320 metres. Following a meticulous manual harvest, the must undergoes a traditional eighteen-day maceration. The excellence of the Roero DOCG is forged through a refined ageing process of twenty months in oak barrels and the classic Albeisa bottle, ensuring an extraordinary evolution that can last for over ten years.
