Fenile

Information about Fenile

Grape variety Fenile
Grape colour White grape
Vigour Medium-Good
Ripening Third decade of September.
Productivity Two localities in the province of Salerno: Furore (Azienda "Cuomo") and Castel S. Lorenzo (Az. Mucciolo, experimental vineyard of the Campania Region, ampelographic platform).
Ampelographic features Leaf: medium-large, round pentagonal, penta or heptalobate; the upper page is medium green, with a red peziolar point; the lower page is arachnoid; the peziolar sinus is U-shaped open; the upper lateral sinuses are U-shaped open; the lower lateral sinuses are U-shaped open; the flap is medium boiling, flat or slightly revolved; the teeth are small with convex sides. Bunch with industrial maturity: small-medium, conical pyramidal, winged, moderately compact, with medium peduncle, thin, little woody. Grape: small, about 2 grams, of uniform size, elliptical in shape; the skin is thin, yellow in colour, pruinose, with an apparent and protruding navel; the flesh is colourless, juicy, soft, with a neutral taste; the pedicel is medium, with a difficult separation; the brush is green, short, stocky.
Notes The Fenile shows a greater tolerance to drought but less resistance to botrytis because of the thinner skin of the grape and for an earlier period of maturation than the other varieties with which it is usually grown.
