產區 The Albarola vine is widespread above all in Liguria in the western Ligurian Riviera up to Tuscany. It has remarkable similarities with the Genoese Bianchetta, and many consider it its synonym.
歷史 In the past it was called Calcatella because of the characteristic clenched among the bunches, one next to the other, which was precisely calculated in informal language. The clear resemblance between the two vines, Bianchetta and Albarola, was already reported in the nineteenth century by De Maria, Gallesio and Leardi. Wales in particular thought it was originally from Liguria, but some suspect its Tuscan origin, where it is cultivated and included in some disciplinaries, even if its use is quantitatively much lower than the Ligurian Riviera. Dell'Olio Macaluso instead clearly indicates it in 1963 as a variety whose origin would be found in a large area from the Eastern Riviera to the Sarzanese then boundless in northern Tuscany. Its cultivation in the nineteenth century was however much more extensive than today, especially in the Riviera di Levante.

特色酒 The wine obtained from the albarola vine is straw-yellow in color with greenish reflections. On the palate it is herbaceous.
筆記 Behavior with respect to grafting: it has shown good affinity with the various rootstocks used: once Rupestris du Lot, later largely replaced by Berl. x Rep. 420 A still dominant today, as well as with the Berl. x Rep. Kober 5BB of more recent introduction.
