La Spinetta Barolo Campe 2006
Spinetta Barolo Campè is a complex, elegant, and powerful red wine. It is DOCG-certified. The La Spinetta winery's Campè is a collector's wine, an investment bottle, or suitable for those who want to treat themselves to the luxury of an unforgettable red. La Spinetta is one of Piedmont's most important wineries, producing both Barolo and Barbaresco. Giuseppe Rivetti established it in 1977 on the hill of Castagnole Lanze known as La Spinetta. The Rivetti heirs now run the business, which spans over 100 hectares of vines and has spread as far as Tuscany.
Barolo 'Campè' is made entirely of Nebbiolo grapes, a wonderful indigenous variety from the Piedmont town of Grinzane Cavour. These vines are between 40 and 65 years old and have excellent vigour due to their southern, south-east, and south-western exposure and location on limestone soil 280 metres above sea level.
The grapes used to make Barolo Campè are fermented in steel vats with skin maceration for about 7-8 days, and the wine is aged in medium toasted barriques for 22-24 months. Bottling is done without any filtering or clarification. The result is a ruby-coloured red wine with a powerful and engaging body . Spinetta Barolo Campè is one of the great labels that every wine lover should try at least once in their lives.
