Areas of cultivation The second white grape in Burgundy after Chardonnay. It is very popular in Romania, where it exceeds 10,000 hectares, but also in Bulgaria, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Kazakhstan, where it is mainly used for the production of sparkling wines. To a much smaller extent is also found in California and Chile.
Ampelographic features It is a vigorous vine but of varying productivity, whose bunch is of conical-cylindrical shape, with irregular size acorns.
Characteristics of the wine obtained from this grape variety Capable of giving good acidity, sometimes even more energetic than Chardonnay, but with much lower yields. It does not bear the oak well because its aromas are too delicate.
