Description

What kind of wine it is

Tramin Lagrein Rosé from Cantina Tramin is a still rosé from Alto Adige. Made from Lagrein grapes, it displays a pale pink colour enhanced by ruby highlights. The bouquet reveals elegant notes of wild strawberry, currant and delicate hints of violet. On the palate, it is lively and fresh, standing out for its great clarity and a savoury persistence with a slight spicy finish.

Where it comes from

The vines are grown in Termeno, at an altitude between 250 and 400 metres. The plants sink their roots into calcareous and clay soils, enriched with gravel and sand that lend linearity to the sip. The Alto Adige microclimate is characterised by strong temperature variations, where warm days alternate with nights cooled by Alpine winds, ensuring the wine has excellent aromatic precision.

How it is produced

After manual harvesting, the destemmed grapes undergo a brief overnight maceration on the skins. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, without malolactic fermentation to preserve the grape variety's natural acidity. Ageing in the same tanks maintains the freshness, delivering a clean and direct finish on the palate.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1898 in Termeno, Cantina Tramin stands as an outstanding example from Trentino-Alto Adige, now bringing together 160 families of winegrowers. Under the guidance of oenologist Willi Stürz, the cooperative enhances the value of native grape varieties, offering an interpretation of the region that is both elegant and true to tradition. Their agronomic commitment is reflected in a rigorous approach that has enabled a 90% reduction in the use of herbicides across the 270 hectares under cultivation. This historic establishment produces wines that combine character and restraint, bringing the most authentic essence of the Alpine landscape to the glass.

In a time of hardship for Alto Adige’s wine producers, Christian Schrott, parish priest of Tramin and later Member of the Austrian Parliament, founded our cooperative in 1898 in order to protect the livelihood and future of the wine producers from this mountain area. Thanks to the strength of this union, Cantina Tramin has become one of Alto Adige’s most respected cooperatives and an example recognized all over the world.

Today, we are 160 families tending approximately 270 hectares of vineyards. We pride ourselves on the fact that each bottle is the quintessence of our philosophy of life and work: accuracy, commitment, trust and creativity.
