Description

What kind of wine is it

Rare Brut by Piper-Heidsieck is a Classic Method Champagne with a rich and defined character. It displays a bright golden yellow hue, crossed by a fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet offers fragrances of exotic fruit, apricot and orange blossom, enriched by refined pastry notes. On the palate, it reveals great precision, balanced acidity and an endlessly long finish with a pronounced mineral touch.

Where does it come from

This cuvée is produced in France, in the Champagne region, highlighting the areas of the Montagne de Reims. It is created from a careful blend of crus, where Chardonnay leads with freshness and Pinot Noir provides structure. This union creates a mature and deep flavour profile, maintaining a rigorous style true to the Piper-Heidsieck identity.

How is it produced

Crafted following the Classic Method, the wine rests for at least eight years in the cellars to develop complexity and finesse. The Brut dosage ensures a pleasantly dry sip. Ideal as an aperitif, it pairs harmoniously with seafood, white meats and aged cheeses such as Comté.

History and Curiosities

Created by the renowned maison Piper-Heidsieck, this prestige cuvée is only the sixteenth edition produced in forty-eight years of history. The Rare Brut 2012 is born from the blending of seventeen crus from the Montagne de Reims, skilfully combining Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Crafted according to the traditional method, it matures for at least eight years in the cellar to achieve extraordinary aromatic complexity. The vintage evokes the iconic style of 2002, boasting exceptional longevity (up to twenty-five years) and offering a pure, incredibly persistent finish.

Eveery great story begins with an encounter. Agathe Perthois was the inspiration, the reason Florens-Louis Heidsieck strove to elaborate a "wine that smiles". An incredible endeavor for the young man, originally from Germany, who discovered the Champagne region and its' wines for the first time in 1777. Love-struck and driven by a taste for adventure, nothing could stop the tenacious genius. Read more
