Description

What kind of wine is it

Fleury Champagne Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut is an expression produced according to the Traditional Method that enhances the purity of Pinot Noir. To the eye, the Champagne displays a bright straw yellow colour. The aromatic profile offers a delicate fruity bouquet, a prelude to a satisfying tasting experience. On the palate, this Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut reveals a classic balance, combining an inviting roundness with a pleasant suppleness. It is ideal served chilled to accompany starters, cheese and lean fish.

Where does it come from

This wine originates from the Champagne region, in the commune of Courteron. The Fleury winery focuses its philosophy on meticulous vineyard care and, since 1989, has practised biodynamic viticulture, an approach that is the hallmark of its identity. This dedication transparently reflects the character of the area of origin, enhancing the nuances of Pinot Noir and ensuring a solid ageing potential of between five and ten years.

How is it produced

Production strictly follows the techniques of the Traditional Method. The initial vinification takes place in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve the varietal aromas. For the ageing of reserve wines, the winery uses oak barrels, which are essential for enriching the blend before the secondary fermentation in the bottle. The structure is defined with a dosage of 8.3 g/L of residual sugars, balanced by a total acidity of 4.85 g/L and a pH of 3.1, resulting in a precise drinking experience.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1895 in Courteron, the Fleury Père & Fils house has been a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture since 1989, cultivating excellence directly in the vineyard. Their elegant Champagne Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut enhances the purity of a 100% Pinot Noir, expertly crafted according to the traditional method. The winemaking process combines the use of temperature-controlled vats and fine oak barrels to refine the reserve wines, creating a perfect classical balance. Awarded 93 points by Decanter, it expresses a genuine dedication to nature.

Champagne Fleury is a biodynamic producer from Courteron, a small village in Champage that's closer to the northern Burgundy region of Chablis than it is to Reims. Fleury's winemaking philosohy is more Burgundian too, focused on creating great wine in the vineyard and less in the cellar. Read more
