Description

The Tre Querci vineyard is the protagonist of this new Brunello, also known as the “Vineyard of Monica”. It is crowned by three old oak trees and lies to the north of Montalcino. The vineyard was planted in 2017 right next to the older Poggio Cerrino plot, on soils that change within just a few steps and are marked by a stronger calcareous component. The name Tre Querci recalls the place where it stands — the Cerrino, Quercus cerri — yet it differs from it due to its distinctive soil characteristics. The label chosen for this new wine is the very first label used by the Tiezzi estate in the 1980s, lightly refreshed in its graphics, as a way to always remember who we are and who we were.

Tasting notes

Profumo

Perfume

The use of concrete enhances the purest expression of the grape — of Sangiovese — giving us a Brunello that immediately stands apart from the others: more vibrant, with explosive aromas of violet, hyacinth, wisteria, blackberry, currant, pomegranate, blood orange and hibiscus. The familiar traits of the estate’s other Brunellos are still present: balsamic and ferrous nuances, hints of cinchona, licorice and mint, and mineral whiffs of flint.

Gusto

Taste

On the palate, the striking freshness evokes a sea breeze and surprises for its energy. Salinity is its defining feature, yet elegance is never lacking.

The origins of the estate are closely linked to the life of Professor Riccardo Paccagnini, ancestor of the Tiezzi family, considered a "pioneer of Brunello": he was responsible for the birth and marketing in 1870 of the first wine with the label "Brunello", which obtained numerous awards also beyond the Alps.

The current company, founded in the eighties by Enzo Tiezzi, an agronomist and oenologist, covers 10 hectares, 3 of which are cultivated with olive groves and 6 with vineyards, divided into three farms: Cerrino, Cigaleta and Soccorso, heart and jewel of company. All the vineyards are bred with great love and attention, manually performing pruning, thinning and harvesting of the grapes.

The production philosophy followed by Enzo Tiezzi is the traditional one, which requires the fermentation of the grapes in wooden vats and the aging in large Slavonian oak barrels.

The three vineyards are located in different areas of the Ilcinese territory: Cerrino and Cigaleta are located 3 km from Montalcino to 350 meters above sea level; Vigna Soccorso, instead, is adjacent to the center of Montalcino, 500 meters above sea level, cultivated as a small tree, in order to limit its production and enhance its aesthetic appearance.

Vigna Soccorso looks like a stepped garden, surrounded by stone walls, roses, aromatic herbs, forest fruits, fruit trees: all fragrances that magically characterize in the glass the most representative wine of the winery.
