Description

What kind of wine is it

Egly Ouriet Champagne Grand Cru Rosé Extra Brut by Egly-Ouriet is a sparkling wine of excellent craftsmanship. Its blend harmonises the structure of Pinot Noir with the finesse of Chardonnay, paying homage to the prestigious Champagne region. Produced according to the Traditional Method, it uses indigenous yeasts for spontaneous fermentation. The result is a dry, taut glass with pronounced minerality, capable of evolving beautifully over the years.

Where does it come from

The grapes come from vineyards located between Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzenay and Vrigny. The layered chalk soils, characteristic of this area, reflect sunlight and release heat during the night, giving the grapes a marked mineral component. Egly-Ouriet manages its old vines following a organic and sustainable approach, minimising interventions in the field. This agronomic rigour enhances the terroir and reflects the authenticity that defines Champagne.

How is it produced

Production involves meticulous partial vinification in barrels, which enriches its structure before a long ageing of 48 months on the lees. The wine presents a deep orange hue, enriched by intense aromas of strawberry, cherry, white meats and earthy nuances. On the palate, it stands out for its pronounced minerality and significant dry extract, with a clean and persistent finish. It pairs perfectly with cheese, shellfish and lean fish, enhancing the complexity of every dish.

History and Curiosities

Produced from old vines on chalky soils, the Champagne Grand Cru Rosé by Egly-Ouriet expresses the authenticity of 11.5 hectares managed sustainably. As a récoltant manipulant, the winery vinifies this Extra Brut with natural fermentation, indigenous yeasts and 40% in wood. After 48 months of ageing, the wine reveals a profound minerality, awarded 93 points by Robert Parker and James Suckling.

A Champagne that represents its terroir: the vine and soil are found throughout this wine, thanks to old vines, a few winemaker's secrets and modern technology. Egly-Ouriet produces champagne only with grapes from its 11.5 hectares company's vineyards, the most important of which are in Ambonnay, the home of Pinot Noir, the others in Bouzy, Verzenay and Vrigny. Quality begins on this particular soil, made up of layers of chalk that reflect the sun's rays and release heat to the vines at night, allowing excess water to be absorbed and giving the grapes a particularly mineral taste.
