Ronchi di Manzano

We are located in Friuli, northeastern Italy. The hillsides of Colli Orientali are home to many farms, both large and small. The microclimate and ground in the region have made it a cradle of wine production. Years of maturation and the region's history have contributed to this Land not exploited, but loved. The earth speaks to us, and we are only able to genuinely respect her when we listen. Roberta Borghese, the owner of Ronchi(Steep Slopes), has discovered the true value of the ground-and is enthralled by the rhythm and beauty of nature.

The company owns two vineyards: Ronchi di Manzano e Rosazzo.Ronchi di Manzano lies amind sloping hills, which as early as the times of the Austro-Hungarian Empire was discovered by Counts of Trent as a location for producing premium-quality wines for the empire's aristocracy. Our company was founded in 1969, and has been under Roberta's leadership since 1984.
Ronchi di Rosazzo: the cultivation area is spread 200,000 m2 on the hills of Rosazzo. Mother Nature offers a friendly face in this region. Italians refer to the chalky soil here as ponca, and it provides a uniform moisture content to protect the grapes from any damage caused by dryness. Ubiquitous mineral salt and trace elements instill an incomparable character into the vines.

At Ronchi di Marzano wine is made only from grapes fit for exquisite grade. Immediately after the harvest, vines are cooled to 0°C with the help of modern temperature-controlled fermentation vats, at which point the fermentation of white wines ends, flavors and aromas being preserved. An integrated mechanical pump system is used instead in the production of red wine, the system being regulated by a highly-developed data processor, from which reassembly and punching are automatically controlled.

From the wood to the glass. This is distance our grapes have to cover before conquering the heart of true connoisseurs. The subterranean wine cellar. This is the wine and fermentation cellar of Roberta Borghese. A structure arisen from rock: two subterranean levels fixed seamlessly into the ground. There is a section for wine production, another for bottling, the warehouse, and the bariccheria(the wine cellar).
