Description

What kind of wine it is

The Timorasso Fausto from Vigne Marina Coppi is a white wine from the Colli Tortonesi that faithfully interprets the Timorasso grape variety. In the glass, it displays an intense straw yellow colour. The bouquet reveals deep notes of white flowers and minerality, followed by delicate citrus touches. On the palate, it shows a significant structure, enlivened by excellent savouriness and marked freshness, leading to a persistent finish with hints of pink grapefruit. Its character makes it perfect to pair with white truffle risottos, creamy cheeses, white meats, and flavourful seafood dishes such as cod and shellfish.

Where it comes from

This label is created in Castellania, in Piedmont, where the winery cultivates its own vineyards, enhancing the local grape varieties. The vines grow on calcareous marl soil, a geological matrix essential for imparting great elegance and a pronounced savoury character to the wine. The name of the wine is a tribute to grandfather Fausto and the strong family bond with the local environment. Meticulous work in the vineyard and the favourable hillside climate ensure excellent grapes, capable of guaranteeing a remarkable ageing potential over time.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with manual harvesting carried out in the early hours of the morning to preserve the aromatic integrity of the grapes. After gentle pressing and cold settling of the must, fermentation develops slowly at a controlled temperature; malolactic fermentation is avoided to maintain the natural acidic tension. Maturation involves a prolonged ageing on fine lees in steel tanks, supported by light bâtonnage. The process concludes with a long rest in the cellar, an essential step to harmonise every component and deliver a glass of absolute balance.

History and Curiosities

Originating from Castellania, Timorasso Fausto is the artisanal tribute from the Vigne Marina Coppi winery to the grandfather and the Colli Tortonesi region. The grapes, strictly hand-picked, undergo a slow fermentation and an ageing period of twenty months between steel and bottle. This meticulous care gives the wine a significant structure, enriched by mineral notes and a persistent finish of pink grapefruit. Awarded 5 Grappoli Bibenda, this still white stands out for its excellent savouriness, ideal with truffle risottos and shellfish.
