Description
What kind of wine is it
Lucido by Marco De Bartoli is a still white wine that expresses the authenticity of the Sicilian lands. Made from Catarratto grapes, it stands out for its fresh and elegant style, characterised by clear primary aromas. The use of indigenous yeasts ensures a faithful and territorial expression of the grape variety, which on the palate is lively, with a delicate profile and a pleasantly bitter finish, typical but less pronounced than the common variety. Ageing on the lees and in the bottle contributes to its excellent aromatic purity.
Where does it come from
The grapes come from western Sicily, in the province of Trapani, a short distance from Marsala. In this area, the qualities of the native Catarratto variety are brought to their fullest expression. The vineyards, trained on trellises using the Guyot system, date back to the early 2000s. Thanks to balanced yields, the manual harvest takes place in mid-September. A meticulous selection of the bunches ensures an intact raw material, capable of offering a clear expression of the Sicilian lands.
How is it produced
Vinification begins with gentle pressing followed by a natural cold settling lasting forty-eight hours. Fermentation at a controlled temperature starts in steel tanks and finishes in French oak barrels. The wine matures for twelve months in contact with the lees, managed through periodic bâtonnage, which gives greater structure and depth. The process is completed with a period of rest in the bottle, essential for achieving perfect balance on the palate.
History and Curiosities
Produced twelve kilometres from Marsala, Lucido by Marco De Bartoli celebrates Sicilian tradition. It owes its name to the Catarratto bianco lucido, characterised by a reduced bloom, which gives the grapes a shiny and velvety appearance. Historically used for Marsala wines, this grape variety grows in vineyards dating back to the early 2000s. Hand-harvested in September, it expresses the purity of the region.

Marco De Bartoli has signs of these every day fights, but he has won against all odds, with the tenacious, stubborn conviction of being right, and in order to demonstrate it, he speaks a lot, as it is common in Sicily, not to speak about himself, but to allow me to drink: here it is his greatest evidence.
Today he has a family of which he is proud of: Renato and Sebastiano, sons, are quite adults, while Josephine, the younger daughter, inherited the name of his great-grandmother, of French origins. Read more
