In Firriato, a district of Trapani, located in an area stretching between the imposing rock of Erice and the sea, one of Sicily's most important wine estates was born in 1980, thanks to Salvatore Di Gaetano 's passion for wines, and is known as 'Azienda vitivinicola Firriato'. There are currently around 320 hectares under vine, divided into seven different estates, one of which is located on the slopes of Etna, another on the island of Favignana and the others in the Trapani area. These are essentially indigenous vines, flanked by international vines and whose vines, some of which are centuries old, are cultivated with respect for the ecosystem and the environment. Thanks to modern techniques, special and scrupulous attention is paid in the cellar to each individual bunch of grapes in order to enhance their organoleptic properties. The island, with its limestone rocks and seascape, is home to indigenous varieties such as Nero d'Avola, Perricone, Catarratto, Grillo and Zibibbo, yielding elegant wines with saline notes, a reflection of the enchanting place that generates them.

Etna: The Majesty of Cavanera

The Cavanera estate on Etna is a triumph of excellence. The vineyards, scattered between 650 and 950 metres above sea level, cling to the slopes of the volcano, on terraces of basalt stones. Under the shadow of the majestic volcano, the cool, windy climate, combined with the volcanic soils, gives Firriato wines unique character and minerality. Old vines, including pre-phylloxera saplings over 140 years old, tell the thousand-year history of Etna's viticulture.
