Royal Lochnagar House Baratheon (Games of Thrones)

To celebrate the 8th and final season of the famous TV series Game of Thrones, Diageo in collaboration with HBO has released a limited collection edition of 8 single malt whiskeys from the most iconic Scottish distilleries (Cardhu, Clynelish, Lagavulin, Talisker). The range consists of eight whiskeys in total, seven corresponding to the House of Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, each with the relative symbol on the label (eg the three-headed dragon for the Targaryens, the dire wolves for the Starks), plus an eighth scotch whiskey that is inspired by the characters of the Guardians of the Night.

The noble House of the Bartheon dominates the Lands of the Tempest and is based in the stronghold of Capo Tempesta. The family is the most recent of the Seven Kingdoms and is the result of the victory of Orys Baratheon against the last King of Storm. As a reward, Aegon the Conqueror gave Orys the castle, the banner and the lands of the defeated King. A few years later, Robert Baratheon, a direct descendant of Orys, rebelled against Aegon and the House of Targaryen, Robert leading an army composed also of the Stark, Tully and Arrym families, annihilated the Targaryens claiming the Throne of Swords. The whiskey combined with this family is a single malt and is aged for at least 12 years in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.
