History |
The first document that mentions the Famoso is represented by a table of the municipal duty of Lugo di Romagna (Ravenna), dated 1437. In the nineteenth century, several documents testify to its presence on the hills of Cesena, where it was also used for the production of grapes tableware. The twentieth century instead sees a remarkable contraction that brought it to the edge of extinction in a century. In 2000 it was identified in two old rows on the hills of Mercato Saraceno (Forlì-Cesena), whose owner indicated it, precisely, with the name "Famoso". Today it is produced in small plots by producers who have seen in this vine a wealth of aromas and biodiversity to be enhanced. |
